Stephen Bishop
Stephen Bishop Branch Manager Investment Advisor

Stephen Bishop spent the first 20 years of his 35-year career in the Wealth Management Division of one of Canada’s” Big 5” Banks, where he built a vibrant client advisory practice, hired, and supervised other advisors, and managed one of the bank’s most successful branches.

In 2006, drawn by their shared principle of always putting the needs of clients first, Stephen Bishop & Associates opened the first Maritime office for Raymond James Ltd., one of Canada's leading independent full-service investment dealers. Today, this fundamental “client first” tenet remains the foundation on which both Stephen and Raymond James have built their respective businesses.

On the personal side, Stephen Bishop has earned a reputation in the community as an open, straight-up, direct-talking “professional service provider” who avoids sales pitches and complicated investment solutions that are difficult to understand. He works tirelessly and diligently with clients who want an experienced, caring expert to help them achieve the most practical, logical, and beneficial goals, based on their specific individual views, objectives, and needs.

As an investor and business owner himself, Stephen has first-hand understanding of the needs of his business owner clients.

Whenever Stephen speaks with a new client about mutual respect and trust, his comments are well-known — “Well… all I can say is that I have been doing this for 35 years and I can walk into any grocery store, anywhere in this province, knowing I don’t have to worry about who I’ll run in to…”

Professionally, Stephen is a “student of the business”. The knowledge and experience he has gathered over the years in the investment industry, through ongoing learning and personal associations with global consultants, continues to this day. He is also one of the few Investment Advisors in Atlantic Canada who are licensed in both Canada and the USA, enabling him to provide cross-border professional advice and assistance for clients' retirement and other investment account needs.

Being socially responsible has involved Stephen in a wide range of community and charitable organizations at both the Board and volunteer levels. He is Past President of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. In addition to his time working with other service clubs, non-profit groups, and charitable foundations, Stephen sat as a regional board member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), as well as several years as an IIROC-appointed member to their Nova Scotia disciplinary hearings panel.

Stephen is always open to conversations with prospective new clients who want a straight shooting assessment of the fit between their individual needs and the services and capabilities of his team.
